IHSPR Research impact
Research impact is real change made in the real world as a direct or indirect result of research. To guide, monitor and assess its contributions to impacts in the research ecosystem, IHSPR uses the Canadian Health Services Policy Research Alliance (CHSPRA) Making an Impact frameworkFootnote 1. According to this framework, the pathways to different types of research impact are complex and non-linear and the types of impact include, but are not limited to, policy, practice, process, product/service, behaviour, technological, societal, health and/or economic. The ultimate goal is to improve health equity and advance the Quadruple Aim of improved patient and provider experience, better population health and value.
IHSPR is committed to accelerating HSPR research impact through relevance by design within funding programs, assessing and communicating impacts of its investments in research to the general public (including patients, the community and policy makers), and evaluating and then learning to improve its approaches and activities based on evidence.
